THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India , Thrissur, has announced the Assocham Excellence in Management Award and Assocham Lifetime Achievement Award.
Mr V.P. Nandakumar, Chairman and Managing Director, Manappuram Financiers, won the Excellence in Management Award, while Fr Gabriel CMI, Founder of the Amala Cancer Hospital and Research Centre, won the Lifetime Achievement Award.
Announcing this, Mr Thejus Purushothaman, Secretary-General, Assocham - Thrissur, said the Manappuram General Finance and Leasing Ltd, the flagship company of the Manappuram Group, is the State's first to formally receive Reserve Bank's licence as a non-banking finance company. The group now has three public limited companies and four private companies under its banner.
Apart from Amala Centre, the 91-year-old Fr Gabriel has been instrumental in setting up a number of colleges and schools in Thrissur and outside, and continues to lead an active public life, Mr Purushothaman said.
