Events Gaming contest for Java buffs Our Bureau
Bangalore , March 22 SUN Microsystems and Paradox Studios Ltd, a Reliance group company, have announced the launch of `Java Game Developers Challenge,' a contest for wireless game developers in India on Tuesday. The event, which aims to promote f J2ME (Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition) in the gaming developer community, is an extension of Sun's partnership with Paradox, said Mr K. P. Unnikrishnan, Director (Marketing), Sun Microsystems India. Thousands of developers and students are expected to participate in the contest, scheduled to kick-off on April 9 across the country. The contest will challenge the developer community to create the best Java games byputting their skills and creativity to test, said Mr Anurag Khurana, CEO of Paradox StudiosParadox provides the graphic assets and game design for the participants who would develop a full-fledged game on the Nokia Series 60 platform by writing the codes. Apart from offering prizes to the top three winners, Paradox will also offer placements for the most innovative developers. The company will also look at the potential commercialisation of the top game developer's application, said Mr Salil Bhargava, Chief Marketing Officer, Paradox.
