French envoy meets AP CM

SOME regions of France are interested in entering into mutual cooperation programmes with Andhra Pradesh on the lines of the understanding with Karnataka, the French Ambassador in India, Mr Dominique Girard, told the State Chief Minister here today.
In response to this offer, the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, explained, how the State was conducive for foreign direct investment. He suggested the areas of food processing and pharmaceuticals for investment.
The French Ambassador also offered the services of `Decision Support Tool' (DST), an Indo-French Centre for groundwater research, set up at the National Geophysical Research Institute.
The Ambassador, who was here in connection with the 5th anniversary celebrations of the DST, said Andhra Pradesh could gain from this, as it has initiated measures to rationally exploit groundwater. The services of DST would be helpful to both experts and policy makers.
