VBC Ferro may incur more power expenses

VBC Ferro Alloys Ltd has announced that the Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) has proposed an increase in power tariff to the ferro alloy industry for the financial year 2005-06 from Rs 2.12 to Rs 2.87 per unit. This comes to effect from April 1, resulting in an increase by Rs 0.75 per unit.

In a communication to stock exchanges, the company said it was currently using around 16 million units of power a month and the resultant burden on the company would be around Rs 1.2 crore a month.

The company has represented to the APERC through the Andhra Pradesh Ferro Alloys Producers Association to reconsider the proposed hike since it was affecting the ferro alloys industry.
