Rubber MRF tops in rubber consumption Aravindan
Kottayam , March 28 MRF stands first among the manufacturers whose consumption of natural rubber exceeded 1,000 tonnes during 2003-04. The other top largescale consumers are Apollo Tyres, JK Industries, Ceat, Birla Tyres and Goodyear. Consumption by the rubber goods manufacturing industry in the country during December 2004 increased to 65,150 tonnes from 61,115 tonnes during November 2004. The total consumption of natural rubber in the country during April-December 2004 was 5,64,075 tonnes against 5,38,400 tonnes during the same period in 2003, recording a growth of 4.8 per cent. The growth in consumption in the auto tyre manufacturing sector during the first nine months of the current year was 7.9 per cent against 7.1 per cent earlier. The consumption provisionally estimated for January 2005 was 64,000 tonnes. The cumulative production of NR for first nine months of the current fiscal was 5,89,800 tonnes, higher by 5.5 per cent over last year's figure. The provisional estimate for January 2005 was 80,000 tonnes.
