TIDCO invites EoIs for naphtha project

Our Bureau

Chennai , March 30

THE Tamil Nadu Industrial Development Corporation (TIDCO), a State Government undertaking, has invited expression of interest from those engaged in the hydrocarbon and petrochemicals sectors for a naphtha cracker project.

It has asked the interested companies to submit their proposals before April 10 for a 5,00,000 tonnes a year ethylene capacity naphtha cracker facility and downstream petrochemicals and polymers complex.

This is the second time that TIDCO is inviting bids for a naphtha cracker project. On the earlier occasion, a couple of years ago, it sought bids for a similar capacity naphtha cracker project with either Ennore, an industrial suburb to the north of Chennai, or Cuddalore, to the south of Chennai, as possible locations. It had also tied up with Mitsui of Japan for assistance in the project, which, did not take off.

This time around TIDCO hopes that it will be able to push the project through, according to reliable sources.
