Chandy reviews port development plan

Kochi , April 3

THE Chief Minster, Mr Oommen Chandy, visited the Kochi Port and reviewed the integrated development plan for the port, including the international container transhipment terminal at Vallarpadam, with the port Chairman, Dr Jacob Thomas.

At the meeting, the Chief Minister expressed happiness over the progress achieved by the port in successfully handing over the Rajiv Gandhi Container Terminal to India Gateway Terminal, a subsidiary of Dubai Port International.

The port officials made a presentation regarding the integrated development plan and requested the Chief Minister to pursue infrastructure development such as rail and road connectivity to Vallarpadam island in order to augment the progress of developing ICTT.

The DPI officials requested the Chief Minister to continue the support given by the State Government in future so that building a world-class terminal within fours years becomes a reality.

The Chief Minister expressed pleasure over the proactive and positive support extended by the port management to DPI and assured of continued commitment and support to the projects under the integrated development plan.
