Announcements BHEL unit bags Rs 90-cr order Our Bureau
HYDERABAD: THE Corporate R&D of BHEL here has bagged its largest-ever commercial order of Rs 90.58 crore for the supply of automated storage and retrieval system (ASRS) against stiff national and international competition. The order involves the design, supply and commissioning of ASRS in 14 warehouses at the Central Ordnance Depot at Kanpur. The objective is to handle 1.06 lakh tonnes of goods for the army such as uniforms, shoes, tents and headgears in more than 1.26 lakh storage bins. Announcing this at its annual press conference, the Executive Director, Mr S. Balagurunathan, said it was the first order for ASRS from an external customer. So far, it has supplied these fully computerised systems to the manufacturing units of the BHEL as part of the modernisation programme of the company. Mr Balagurunathan said the turnover had reached Rs 28.72 crore during 2004-05, up from Rs 12 crore during the previous fiscal. As for the orders received position, it was Rs 23.75 crore for 2004-05, compared to Rs 18.92 crore.
