Tea Mixed trend at Kochi tea sale Our Bureau
Kochi , April 10 A MIXED trend persisted for almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi tea auction. Though the dust sale witnessed a good general demand, it was comparatively low for leaf varieties. Of the 11,23,000 kg on offer in the dust category, good CTCs were steady around the last levels. Others were easier by a rupee to two. Highgrown Orthodox was steady, while medium Orthodox steady to sometimes dearer. As per the details made available by Forbes, Ewart & Figgis Pvt Ltd, the best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 57-68, medium CTC realised Rs 52-55 and below medium were quoted Rs 36-43. Highgrown BOPD fetched prices between Rs 100-136, while medium BOPD realised Rs 40-44. Secondaries were quoted at Rs 34-37. The leaf sale witnessed only a fair general demand and the quantity on offer was 5,03,000 kg. Orthodox medium steady, while Highgrowns were lower by Rs 2-4. Good CTC's were barely steady, while other CTC's were easier. Exporters were selective. The best Nilgiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 61-80, medium Orthodox realised Rs 43-62. Medium CTC leaf fetched prices between Rs 43-47. In the leaf category, Chamraj OP realised the best prices of Rs 97 followed by Havukal BOPF by Rs 91. In the dust varieties, Kodanaad Cl.BOPD fetched the best prices of Rs 136 followed by Craigmore Cl.BOPD by Rs 100.
