24x7 Learning tool for accent training

Bangalore , April 15

BANGALORE-BASED e-learning implementation provider, 24x7 Learning, is now offering CAN8 VirtuaLab, an interactive multimedia tool used for voice and accent training. According to Ms Patricia MacLeod, Director, Corporate Training of Gentian Learning Systems that has developed CAN8, the software has been specially designed for the Indian BPO market.

CAN8 VirtuaLab integrates three major functions: learning, authoring and evaluating candidates. Mr Karthik K.S., Founder and Managing Director, 24x7 Learning, says, "Gone are the days when you could give cookie cut solutions in voice and accent training. The market has evolved and demands highly specialised offerings."

For instance, CAN8 can offer training in 15 different UK accents and six major US accents to clients. Apart from this, the content can be customised to suit the client's line of business. In the process, the candidates get to hear the local trainer's voice giving them lessons in grammar, conversations, dialogues and soft skills.

"Authoring helps because employees here will relate better to an Indian voice instructing them on how to neutralise their accents rather than have a foreigner talk to them," says Ms MacLeod. CAN8 can also be used as an evaluation tool during the recruitment process in the BPO segment, which is currently witnessing a very low conversion rate: almost 1-3 per cent.
