Tea Mixed trend in Kochi auction Our Bureau
Kochi , April 17 A MIXED trend persisted for almost all varieties of tea at the Kochi Tea auction. Though the dust sale witnessed a good general demand, it was comparatively low for leaf varieties. Of the quantity of 9,50,000 kg on offer in the dust category, good medium and best CTCs steady to dearer. Others barely steady and tended to ease. The best CTC varieties commanded prices between Rs 58-70, medium CTC realised Rs 53-56 and below medium were quoted Rs 36-42. Highgrown BOPD fetched prices between Rs 98-180. Secondaries were quoted Rs 34-37. However, the leaf sale witnessed only a fair general demand and the quantity on offer was 3,66,000 kg. Orthodox grades tended to ease. Good CTCs remained steady, while others were barely steady. Exporters continued to operate selectively. The best Niligiri varieties commanded prices between Rs 57-78, medium Orthodox realised Rs 42-60. The best CTC leaf fetched prices between Rs 48-51, while medium CTC leaf were quoted Rs 43-47. In the leaf category, Chamraj OP realised the best prices of Rs 108 followed by Havukal BOPF by Rs 100. In the dust varieties, Kodanaad Cl.BOPD fetched the best prices of Rs 180 followed by Parkside BOPD-S by Rs 98.
