MCF to spend Rs 56 cr for plant revamp

MANGALORE Chemicals and Fertilizers (MCF) Ltd will take up the third phase of revamp of its plant in March 2006 at an estimated cost of Rs 56 crore.

A press release issued by the company said that certain critical equipment, which have reached the end of their effective lives, will be changed in the third phase of revamp.

Over Rs 105 crore has been spent in the earlier two phases of revamp. To reduce the losses being made on the phosphatic range of fertilisers, a captive sulphuric acid plant with a capacity of 100 tonnes a day should be commissioned in October this year with a total capital cost of Rs 11.75 crore, the release said.

During 2004-05, the company recorded a profit before tax of Rs 36.68 crore (Rs 22.45 crore). Net sales rose to Rs 878.02 crore (.

The release said that Mr D.P. Mehta, who was the Managing Director of MCF Ltd, has resigned.

Following this, the UB Group has nominated Mr Deepak Anand as Managing Director, and the appointment was approved at the board meeting
