GUJARAT Alkalies and Chemicals Ltd has announced a net profit of Rs 48.17 crore in the January-April 2005 quarter, as compared to Rs 23.12 crore recorded in the last quarter of the previous financial year.

The turnover in the fourth quarter of 2004-05 stood at Rs 353.73 crore as compared to Rs 270.61 crore in the similar period last year. On the annual basis, it has logged a net profit of Rs 144.28 crore in 2004-05, a sharp increase of Rs 81 crore over last year's figure of Rs 63.15 crore, according to the company's results announced today. Sales turnover on an annualised basis stood at Rs 1,278.49 crore in 2004-05 as compared to Rs 1,071.63 crore in the previous year. The company has announced a dividend of Rs 1.5 per share.
