Small savings collections up 19%

COLLECTIONS under the small savings schemes including public provident fund (PPF) had grown by 19.02 per cent during April-February 2005 at Rs 1,53,946 crore as compared to collection level of Rs 1,29,343 crore in the same period last year.

This was stated by Mr S.S. Palanimanickam, Minister of State for Finance, in a written reply to a question raised by Mr G. Karunakara Reddy, in the Lok Sabha on Friday.

Collections under the PPF had increased by 11.30 per cent during April-February 2005 to Rs 13,206 crore as against Rs 11,865 crore in the same period during the previous year.
