Ranbaxy makes fresh filings for three ARVs

New Delhi , May 12

RANBAXY Laboratories Ltd has made three fresh filings of its anti-retroviral (ARVs) formulations to the WHO for approval, taking the total number of filings submitted to eight.

The formulations filed most recently include fixed dose combinations (FDCs) and this takes the total number of FDCs filed by the company with the WHO to three.

In a statement, Dr Brian W. Tempest, CEO and Managing Director, Ranbaxy, said: "The work of filing our ARVs with USFDA under the US President's Emergency Programme for AIDS Relief programme and re-filing them with the WHO is receiving high priority within Ranbaxy."

He added: "We expect to file most of our ARV range with the WHO and the USFDA by this summer. With this, we are a step closer in making these quality medicine available widely in countries that urgently need them."

Earlier, Ranbaxy had also announced filing of four ARVs with the USFDA under the latter's expedited review process.
