THE Hannover international industrial fair held in Germany from April 11 to 15 has been an eye-opener for the umbrella organisation of sub-contracting firms of BHEL at Tiruchi, namely BHEL Small-Scale Industries Association.

According to the association President, Mr Rajappa Rajkumar, a visit arranged this year under the auspices of the association for the members, provided a good exposure on the emerging areas for the SSI units. The fair has been a global platform for international companies and technology providers, showcasing the emerging trends in engineering equipment, energy, research and development, micro-technology etc.

Many international companies have been looking at China and India to identify potential partners. To the interest of the team of 18 members who visited the fair, windmill technology, boiler components and hydrogen fuel cell technology were of special interest. The team visited some of the Siemens and Benz manufacturing facilities there.
