Markets - Stock Markets

Affairs are easier of entrance than of exit

Khan was studying the US clampdown on Chinese cotton knit shirts, blouses and underwear. But Jogin was reading Jeffrey Sachs's comment on how India's labour division is changing the world! To select the next Indian cricket coach, Dakshinamoorthy put all possible names on a dart board… Yet Sridevi got everybody on to the weekly market chat. Hang on!

Sri : Hi, everybody! "April is the cruellest month," said Eliot. How's May?

Kay: Overall mood still bullish. Can see upward movement next week.

Jog: If temperatures soar like they do now, only we'll go up!

Dax: "It ain't the heat, it's the humility," is a Yogi Berra quote! :-)

Kay: Let me put it this way. Trend is upwards, but could be tested soon.

Sri : Heavyweights are not rallying so strong. :-| Signal for bearish trend.

Jog: Exiting for now is prudent? Affairs are easier of entrance than of exit, cautions Aesop. Will Nifty and Sensex come down during the week?

Dax: Chart patterns point to near-term bullishness. So near you can feel its breath! See the mad rush in mid-cap and small cap stocks. :-)

Sri : Will continue to move. I'm watching SRF. Do you know why?

Kay: Carbon credit story in this stock is unfolding! Graphite is black!

Dax: India Glycol is another stock that is in accumulation mode.

Jog: Yeah, there could be some sharp movement in the stock.

Kay: "We have to choose between a global market driven only by calculations of short-term profit, and one which has a human face."

Dax: That's Kofi Annan. I like this one of Richard Bach: "I don't want to do business with those who don't make a profit..."

Jog: "... because they can't give the best service." Good one!

Sri : Last week FII player T.Rowe Price Intl sold large quantity of shares in several companies. Market fear is if the FII is exiting from India! :-|

Dax: Oh, that means the stocks it's holding can come under heavy selling.

Kay: Good, you're able to put one and one together! Pantaloon Retail adds two stores in Mumbai and Thane. Positive for the stock, so I think it may cross Rs 1000 this week. She calls out to the man...

Sri : Did you check out Trent, the rival. It's not moving! And comparatively cheaper. Better to buy it now. "Bear patiently with a rival," says Ovid.

Jog: Was crunching last Monday numbers. Asian Electr won 11 per cent plus. Binani Ind, BEML and Walchand too made 2 plus. And around 1 per cent gain for Jindal Vijay, Glenmark and LIC Housing Fin.

Kay: Textile stocks may get a leg up, after the US decided against Chinese imports! Shanti… shanti… shanti… Get me water, please.

Dax: "You will find peace not in denial, but in victory," J. Donald Walters!

Jog: Sounds like Shanthi gears encountering a hiccup. Q4 disappointing!

Kay: Zee may show firmness, after its acquisition of RPG distribution.

Dax: "More firm and sure the hand of courage strikes, when it obeys the watchful eye of caution," is a nice advice of James Thomson!

Sri : Z for Zicom, I'd say. May see buzz after news of its expansion plans.

Jog: Wild cards: Lloyd Electric, Simplex Castings, Narmada Chematur and Hanil Era. Bombay Paints is a mystery stock to watch.

Dax: It has run up very fast. Possibility of BIFR package.

Kay: Take care. It's like playing blind in game of cards. Good profits, but...

Sri : High risks. "Being too cautious is the greatest risk!" said Nehruji!

Dax: But Titus Maccius Plautus cautions: "The poor man who enters into a partnership with one who is rich makes a risky venture." Watch out!

Jog: Let me say Jai Balaji! Heard about its expansion plans in the East?

Dax: New steel unit. At Rs 43. No limit to expansion, says Schwab.

Kay: You may adore Ador Welding. On a dream run, up to Rs 170-plus.

Sri : Large-scale accumulation! IVRCL interests me after its public issue.

Jog: Proposed acquisition of Hind Dorr-Oliver and Citicorp offloading 15 per cent stake? Sabero Organics and Shrenuj Diamonds, anyone?

Dax: Okay for short-term! Let me leave with you a practical advice from Norman Ralph Augustine: "If stock market experts were so expert, they would be buying stock, not selling advice." Best of luck!
