Rain Calcining among global top-5

Our Bureau

HYDERABAD: Rain Calcining Ltd commenced commercial production of its expanded calcination plant on Monday. Accordingly, the capacity of the calcined petroleum coke (CPC) plant has increased from 3 lakh tonnes per annum to 4.8 lakh tpa.

The company will now become one of the top-five global calcining companies. The US-based Oxbow Carbon & Minerals, the world's largest marketer and distributor of petroleum coke, will continue to supply the raw material (anode green petroleum coke) to Rain Calcining and market its finished product (calcined petroleum coke).

With this expansion, the company expects its annual sales revenue to improve by about 60 per cent during the current fiscal compared with the previous year. The drop in the freight rates was expected to positively impact the margins and thereby the earnings outlook for 2005-06, the company has informed the stock exchanges.
