Chennai , May 25

C:EHKO, the German haircare brand which entered the Indian market with professional products through salons, is all set to hit the store shelves by July, Mr K.V. Ravi Krishnan, Vice-President, Marketing, C:EHKO India Pvt Ltd, said.

Mr G. Bannerjee, Marketing Manager, C:EHKO India Pvt Ltd, said the products were test marketed in India in 2002. The feedback from the market was used to tailor the products for the Indian market, he said. The Chennai-headquartered company has a marketing arrangement with Gebr. Ewald GmbH to import and market the products.

C:EHKO becomes the fourth international haircare brand to enter the Indian market, after L'Oriel, Schwarzkopf and Wella. These brands are all in the premium segment of the hair colouring market, which is estimated to be in the region of Rs 215 crore. The market is growing at the rate of 15 to 20 per cent, Mr Krishnan said.

The company will be spending 15 per cent of its turnover on advertising, Mr Krishnan said.
