BSNL(TN Circle) gears up for competition from pvt mobile operators

WITH inter-service area connectivity permitted by the Union Government, mobile phone services will become the most preferred choice for telephone users and the Tamil Nadu Circle of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL) is confident about competing with private mobile operators, said the BSNL Chief General Manager, Tamil Nadu Circle, Mr K. Sridhara.

The wide coverage by BSNL has propelled a huge demand for its SIM cards, especially the pre-paid service. Already, 9.1 lakh working connections having been given against the equipped capacity of 6.25 lakh connections.

Preparations are on to provide 8.5 lakh more connections by June.The BSNL network is such that no other operator will be able to compete, he added. Earlier in a function held in the city, he gave away Sanchar Seva Padak and Bharat Sanchar Seva Sarathy Awards-2005 to meritorious employees of Madurai Telecom District.
