PwC to analyse jute life-cycle

JUTE Manufacturers' Development Council has commissioned PricewaterhouseCoopers to conduct a life-cycle analysis of jute with a view to standardising its eco-friendly quality and framing a disposal protocol for the golden fibre, according to Mr Arun Bal, Secretary of JMDC.

Addressing a seminar on `Indian jute industry - empowering through diversification' organised here today by the Bengal National Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Mr Bal said the report, which was expected to be ready by January 2006. The analysis will cost JMDC Rs 56 lakh.
