New Projects Suzlon plans units in China, US Our Bureau
CHENNAI: Suzlon Energy Ltd, manufacturer of wind turbines, intends to set up plants for manufacturing rotary blades in China and the US, according to the company's Chairman and Managing Director, Mr Tulsi R. Tanti. The Rs 800-crore company is now looking to increase its exports, particularly to China, Australia and the US. Since transporting rotary blades from its production bases in Daman and Pondicherry is not logistically sensible, the company intends to produce them in China and the US. Suzlon also plans to pick up equity stakes in European companies that manufacture gearboxes. Suzlon, 100 per cent Indian-owned and closely held, is the world's fifth largest windmill company in terms of capacity added last year. The total capacity company's machines aggregate to 3,100 MW.
