Rubber Dull session keeps rubber prices flat Our Correspondent
Kottayam , June 21 SPOT rubber prices were flat on Tuesday. The market activities were limited as buyers and sellers kept a low profile throughout the session. According to observers the major manufactures are keeping out of the market as they are sitting comfortably on 25,000 tonnes of imports till June and expect further 10,000 tonnes in July, though the quantity could only meet their requirements partially. Meanwhile, the growers and traders continued to hold the stock to take advantage of the strengthening monsoon. RSS 4 closed at Rs 60.50 at Kottayam and Kochi. The NMCE rubber futures was weak in near months quoting the July contract at Rs 61.32 (Rs 61.96) and August contract at Rs 61.22 (Rs 61.57) for RSS 4. The far months were steady as the September contract was quoted at Rs 59.00 (Rs 59.01) and October at Rs 57.50 (Rs 57.50) while the transactions recorded were 440 lots till noon. The July futures for RSS 3 closed at 160.4 yen from 160.6 yen at TOCOM. The grade continued to close unchanged at Rs 64.02 a kg at Bangkok. The per kg spot rubber prices were: RSS-4: Rs 60.50 (Rs 60.50), RSS-5: Rs 58.25 (Rs 58.25), Ungraded: Rs 56.50 (Rs 56.50), ISNR 20: Rs 56.50 (Rs 56.50) and Latex 60%: Rs 39.00 (Rs 39.00).
