Hyderabad , June 22

THE GVK group has been awarded the mandate for development of the 200-MW Mapang Bogudier and the 170-MW Bogudier Sirkiri Bhyol hydel projects by the Uttaranchal Government in the face of competition from international bidders.

These projects would be located on the Goriganga River in Pithorgarh district.

According to Mr G.V. Sanjay Reddy, Director of GVK, these projects would be executed under the build, own, operate and transfer (BOOT) model.

The GVK group, which currently manages gas-based power plants, would now be foraying into hydel power generation.

Both these projects involve construction of dams, tunnels, intakes, surge shafts, underground powerhouses, laying of transmission lines and roads, and creating supporting infrastructure, according to a company release.
