Spot rubber prices recover

Our Correspondent

Kottayam , July 4

SPOT rubber prices made a smart recovery on Monday. Covering groups and purchase agents were moderate buyers in major grades as most of the dealers and growers stayed back expecting the prices to flair up further.

The Bangkok RSS 3 spot improved to Rs 66.74 from Rs 66.15 a kg on Friday. Exporters were also active in the market. Sheet rubber RSS-4 closed at Rs 61.25 against Rs 60.50 a kg at Kottayam and ruled steady at Rs 61.00 a kg at Kochi as on Saturday.

The NMCE rubber turned better following the fundamentally and technically strong overseas advices. The July contract was traded at Rs 61.41 (Rs 60.46), August contract at Rs 62.40 (Rs 61.21), September contract at Rs 59.75 (Rs 58.50) and October contract at Rs 58.44 (Rs 57.25) per kg for RSS 4.

The volumes totalled at 734 lots till mid-session with 213 lots in July, 451 lots in August, 61 lots in September and 9 lots in October.

The domestic spot rubber prices per kg follow: RSS-4: Rs 61.25 (Rs 60.50); RSS-5: Rs 59 (Rs 58.25); ungraded: Rs 57 (Rs 56); ISNR 20: Rs 56.50 (Rs 56.50) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 39 (Rs 39).
