Performance Marketing - Trends South accounts for 37 pc of Toyota Innova sales Our Bureau
Hyderabad , July 4 TOYOTA Kirloskar Motor has received over 25,000 bookings for Innova with a chunk of it coming from the southern region. This has forced the company to rework its production mix. The Deputy General Manager of Toyota Kirloskar, Mr Sailesh Shetty, said Innova has managed to garner more volumes because of its strong appeal to both multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) and passenger car segment customers. Given the response to the offering, the wait-list of few months has been slashed down to about 45 days now. Since the launch of Innova in February, South has accounted for about 4,300 units with June registering about 1,600. Along with other models including Corolla, June recorded sales of 1,884 units. This meant that about 37 per cent of Innova sales were from the South. There is perceptible shift among vehicle buyers given the strategic positioning of the MPV. All those interested in a refined MPV were anyway buying it, but many buyers of C and C plus segment were looking to Innova as a family car, he said. Asked if they were losing out to competition from Tavera to the fleet-operators after discontinuing its popular Qualis, Mr Shetty said "that is not a matter of concern as new segments have opened up for us. We expect to market about 42,000 Innovas this year. Of them, South is expected to account for 14,000."
