The offer is open for sale of tickets between July 5 and 15, and is valid for travel in economy class between July 22 and August 19, 2005, according to Mr Bharath Mahadevan, Manager (Eastern India) of Singapore Airlines. Inclusive of taxes, the promotional fare will actually cost the passenger about Rs 7,900 on the Kolkata-Singapore-Kolkata sector and Rs 11,661 on the Kolkata-Singapore-Kuala Lumpur/Penang/Bangkok-Kokata sector. With the just-announced promotional fares, the passenger load factor was expected to go up to around 80 per cent. On the Kolkata-Singapore sector, Singapore Airlines operates a Boeing 777 aircraft four days a week. The aircraft has a configuration of 30 business class and 293 economy class seats. Ex various destinations in India, Singapore Airlines operates 52 flights a week, to and from destinations such as Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Amritsar, Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Hyderabad, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram. Mr Mahadevan said Singapore Airlines' promotional fare on the Kolkata-Singapore sector compared favourably with that offered by other competing airlines.
