Goodcare Pharma launches `Livgood'

GOODCARE Pharma Pvt Ltd, a member of the Ayurvedic products Baidyanath Group, engaged in OTC products for lifestyle related diseases such as stress, diabetes etc, under the Indian system of medicine, today nationally launched its product "Livgood".

The company has as many as 700 products in its fold, manufactured at its two GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) factories in Joka, near Kolkata and Gurgaon, near Delhi.

The Baidyanath Group has a turnover of Rs 200 crore, with Goodcare, accounting for a business turnover of Rs 9 crore. The company expects a turnover growth of 25-30 per cent in the current fiscal.

Addressing a news conference at the launch here today, Mr R.K. Sharma, Chairman, Goodcare, said Livgood was a natural liver protector, which will weed out the harmful effects of toxins on the liver.

Describing the product as safe, effective and natural, Mr Sharma said it was being launched in all the metro towns of the country initially, and later in the smaller towns. He put the size of the ayurvedic products market in India at around Rs 1,500 crore.

Brand promos, estimated to cost over Rs 1 crore, are being handled by as many as four ad agencies, namely, Mileage, Response, R K Swamy Advertising and ACI. It is being marketed in bottles of 60 capsules each.

Goodcare products are mainly exported to countries such as Italy, Germany, New Zealand, Singapore and the US.

He said the product has been clinically tested at the Institute of Post Graduate Ayurvedic Education & Research at SVSP Hospital, Kolkata. Describing the results as highly successful, he said it has been tested among a target audience in the age group of 20-60 years. The study has revealed that the health of 86 per cent of the individuals responded "wonderfully" after they tried Livgood, he pointed out.

Pointing out that the product, along with other products of Goodcare Pharma, would be available at all leading chemists' stores across the country, Mr Sharma said Livgood particularly protects and rejuvenates the liver from harmful effects of alcohol and irregular eating habits.

The four basic ingredients of Livgood, according to Mr Sharma were, Kutki (a key herb in ayurveda for treating sluggish liver, dyspepsia, constipation and loss of appetite), Ghritkumari (Aloe Vera tonic for liver and spleen), Punarnava (also used as a diuretic for Oedema) and Bhumiamla (a liver protector which was also beneficial in intestinal colic). Among the popular OTC products from the Baidyanath stable are Neem Guard, Spirulina Plus and Stress Guard.
