Retailing Reid & Taylor plans to add 10-15 stores by year-end Anna Peter
Mumbai , July 5 REID & Taylor, S Kumars Nationwide Ltd's premium ready to-wear clothing brand, is exploring the idea of marketing its products in upscale multi-brand outlets. This will be in addition to its emphasis on its own store format. According to Mr Tarun Joshi, Communications Custodian of S Kumars, Reid & Taylor already has 16 stores operating and another 10 are in various stages of completion. A store is being opened in Mumbai's upmarket Juhu area this month and another five stores will be set up in Mumbai by the year-end. He said that S Kumars had made a decision to focus on the Reid & Taylor brand through retail expansion, interface and communication with consumers. Two Reid & Taylor stores were being set up in Delhi, with contracts to sign two more. Stores were being planned in Kolkata and Bangalore as well, he said. By the year-end, a total of 10-15 stores will be added to make it about 30 stores across the country. The stores offer ready-to-wear, including formal blazers, jackets, trousers, shirts, ties and accessories. Tamarind, which had entered the market and subsequently disappeared due to production issues, was likely to be relaunched next year, Mr Joshi said. The company has created a special division to spearhead the brand's re-entry into the domestic market. For the quarter ended March 31, 2005, S. Kumars posted net sales of Rs 196 crore (Rs 159.69 crore) and net profit of Rs 14.97 crore.
