DSP Merrill tops Bloomberg merger-acquisition advisor list

Mumbai , July 7

INVESTMENT bank DSP Merrill Lynch has been named the top mergers and acquisitions advisor in Bloomberg 2005 1H Mergers and Acquisitions Financial Advisory League Tables, representing publicly disclosed transactions announced between January 1 and June 30, 2005, according to a press release from DSP-ML.

DSP-ML has been ranked No 1 with a market share of 19.4 per cent with nine deals valued at $1,400 million, followed by Citigroup with a market share of 13.8 per cent with three deals valued at $998 million and ICICI Securities with a market share of 8.1 per cent with nine deals valued at $589 million.

The release also quoted Mr Amit Chandra, Joint Managing Director, DSP-ML, as saying, "The year 2005 has been significant in terms of size, complexity and nature of deals which indicates a structural deepening of the M&A landscape over 2004."
