Be careful what you set your heart upon

Jogin was still recovering from the repeated visuals on the BBC, and Dakshinamoorthy thought he could almost hear the ‘bugle’ on ‘ideological erosion’. Sridevi was trying to understand the Dabhol matter. But Khan pulled them all in for the weekly market chat. Join in!

Kay: Overall mood in the market is still bullish.

Jog: Explosions shook global markets including ours! Boom!

Sri : There are groups which are bearish but they are unable to go short.

Dax: Coz heavy buying from FIIs continues. Doesn’t look like stopping.

Kay: Market facing slight resistance, though it ended higher on Friday.

Jog: Decline seems to be on the cards in the short term as on charts.

Sri : Street talk is about a strong upside move in Narmada Chematur.

Dax: Also Shringar Cinemas. Low-priced stock bandied about is Peacock!

Jog: A high-net-worth-individual (HNI) whose moves are watched…

Sri : Is said to be interested in ABB and Adlabs, right?

Kay: Ah, you know everything! Tell me something about Yes Bank.

Sri : Watch for the listing on July 12.

Dax: Expect further upward trend in Siemens & IVRCL.

Jog: Motherson Sumi in the limelight for its attractively priced GDR offer.

Kay: Crude is worrisome; price of the Indian basket has hit a new high.

Sri : ONGC may continue to hold firm driven by high crude prices.

Jog: Also, oil sector stocks could respond well if the Krishnamurthy Committee on synergy in energy proposes a friendly structure!

Dax: Another $170 million raised in Korea for an India-dedicated fund?

Sri : Mid-cap & small cap will continue to do well, says my astrology!

Kay: Check if your list includes Gandhi Special Tubes.

Jog: It gained 45 per cent last week! Potential for good returns.

Kay: From Rs 130 levels. Top broking house buying, for propriety biz.

Dax: Tainwala Chemicals is another stock to watch out for.

Sri : It has a JV with suitcase MNC Samsonite in India and it makes suitcases and other travel-related items for this venture.

Jog: Some are accumulating the stock; VIP & Blow Plast have gained.

Kay: Financial Technologies jumped sharply. Further upside is possible.

Jog: Mainly due to the recent tie-up of MCX, promoted by Financial Technologies, with Dubai Bullion and Metal Exchange.

Sri : Expect good revenues for MCX from this. Financial Technologies has potential to go up to Rs 1000. But one has to wait for some time.

Dax: Archies Greetings is another stock to greet! A good retail stock!

Jog: Biocon was sub-400 just the other day, but is up again on its feet!

Kay: Closed at Rs 446 on Fri. Opportunities for shrewd traders!

Sri : Rajshree Sugars? Up to Rs 55, having stayed at Rs 50-51 for long.

Jog: Sugar is turning, it seems, feel market men! I was crunching last Monday’s numbers. Liberty Shoe and Wimco gained more than 6%.

Kay: Pidilite made almost 3, while Taj GVK Hotel was up 2 per cent.

Sri : Infosys too gained almost 2, while i-flex and KVB stayed above the 1 per cent level in gains. Other gainers on Monday were Kale Consult, ITC, Reliance, State Bank, Rel Cap, and K Sera Sera.

Dax: Aztec Software settled at Rs 124 on Fri; good volumes every day.

Kay: The number of trades is a pointer to market’s interest in this IT stock!

Sri : Copper firms’ stocks could be good buy. Currently, copper stocks are at their lowest since the 1970s! Tight supply and labour strike in South America, remember. :-|

Kay: Factors to make things worse. Funds are buying into copper futures!

Jog: Look closely at stocks such as Sterlite, Hind Copper and Hindalco.

Kay: Big stocks Reliance, SBI, BHEL and Satyam strayed sideways and couldn’t move up strongly. Is that a show of some weakness?

Jog: Saw India Glycol go up to Rs 163 on Friday? Also, Venky’s India!

Dax: For short or medium term, how about IDBI and Geojit Securities?

Kay: Quarterly results will be pouring in. Earnings should provide clue!

Sri : Better stay long and wait. Mid-cap may get more attention in the coming weeks, as the biggies are in a lull! James A. Baldwin said...

Jog: “Be careful what you set your heart upon - for it will surely be yours.”
