Agricultural Policy Agri-Biz & Commodities - Coconut & Copra TN announces support price for copra Our Bureau
CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Government has announced a support price for `copra' to support coconut farmers. The Tamil Nadu State Cooperative Marketing Federation Ltd (Tanfed) will procure copra at a price of Rs 3,570 a quintal directly from the farmers, according to an official press release. This follows a slide in copra prices, which range from Rs 2,900 to Rs 3,000 in the major markets. The State Government has ordered a ways and means advance of Rs 50 lakh to Tanfed to assist its market intervention.
