New Delhi , July 15 QATAR Airways launched a daily flight on the Doha-Delhi-Doha sector, on Friday. Addressing a press conference to announce the commencement of the flight, the airline's Senior Manager, Commercial (Arabian Peninsula, Iran, South Asia and Myanmar), Mr Ali Al Rais, said the start of the flight here was the first stage of a capacity increase on select Indian routes. The airline is to increase its flights to several cities including operating an additional weekly flight to Mumbai, apart from operating two more weekly flights to Kochi. It currently operates 19 scheduled flights a week between Doha and Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kochi and Thiruvananthapuram which it plans to increase to 30 weekly flights shortly. On the Delhi route, it plans to operate the larger Airbus A-330 aircraft in place of the Airbus A-320 aircraft it is using at present. "We plan to upgrade the aircraft that is being operated to Delhi to an Airbus A-330. This will happen during the year. The aircraft will offer seats in three classes, first, business and economy class," Mr Rais said. Meanwhile, the airline plans to get the lower airfares that it is offering at present back to market levels when the promotional schemes are completed. "The promotional fares are there only to show the market what we have to offer. Once the honeymoon period is over, we will raise prices to market levels," Mr Rais added. Officials said the airline was focussing on serving not only the 300,000 Indians living in and around Doha but also the five million Indians living in the Gulf region.
