Wipro named HP's global SI partner

Our Bureau

Bangalore , July 17

Hewlett-Packard has named Wipro as its global systems integration (SI) partner, the first Indian company to be so recognised.

The partnership extends to the entire portfolio of HP OpenView suite of software with an initial focus on serving customers in West Asia, Europe and to encompass North America subsequently.

Announcing this Mr Sandeep Johri, V-P, Strategy and Planning, Management Software Business, HP, said the two partners would deliver remote management services, systems integration and IT infrastructure library consulting using HP's IT management software.

Wipro joins the ranks of HP's partners, which include the likes of Cap Gemini and Accenture and will be competing with them to serve HP's global customers.

Wipro has a large pool of open view skills and both companies would enable each other to access customers for offering their services, Mr Amit Chatterjee, Country Manager, HP, said.

For every dollar of Open View license revenue which HP earns, there are $3-5 to be made in SI and services, and going by the $1-billion market that open view has, the opportunity for Wipro is significant, said Mr Johri, adding that HP also expects to formalise similar relationships with Satyam and HCL soon.
