Power AP may cut power tariff for industrial users Our Bureau
Hyderabad , July 28 THE Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, today hinted at substantial reduction in power tariff for industrial consumers in the State. Earlier this year, the State had brought down industrial power tariff by about 4 per cent. Speaking at the Indus Entrepreneurs (TiE) and the Indian School of Business (ISB) Connect 2005, Dr Reddy said that the Government would lay special emphasis on infrastructure development, including creation of incubation centres for entrepreneurs. The Government would create a 20,000-acre Knowledge Corridor in Hyderabad, focussing on IT, ITES, R&D, science and technology, finance, insurance and other emerging sectors, and ensure that entrepreneurs have a trouble-free interface with AP Invest, a special agency created to boost investments in the State. Assuring full support for new projects, the Chief Minister requested technology companies to expand to Tier-II cities. Companies like HSBC and Satyam have begun to expand. The digital connectivity provided through the AP Broadband project would change the way people enjoy public services, which would come to their doorsteps, Dr Reddy said. The Dean of ISB, Prof M. Rammohan Rao said the Wadhwani Centre of Entrepreneurial Excellence would play a big role in grooming and moulding leaders. As part of efforts to expand the B-School's mandate, there were plans to create four more centres of excellence, including one for manufacturing, supply chain and logistics.
