Our Bureau

Bangalore , July 28

THE Settlement Commission of Central Excise and Customs has assured that it would settle cases brought before the Commission within six months from the date of appeal filed by the companies.

"The Settlement Commission is undoubtedly a benefaction to settle tax disputers of high revenue stake and rescues one from having to undergo the harassment of the litigation procedures and at the same time ensuring that the rightful tax to be recovered reaches the Government," said Mr Dalbir Singh, Chairman of the Settlement Commission.

The procedure followed by the commission was less costly and beneficial to the applicant , he said while addressing the members of the Bangalore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCIC) here.

Mr Anant Koppar, President, BCIC, lauded the commission's efforts in settling disputes at a short time and urged the industry to approach the commission in case of a default and prevent corruption.
