HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Government will take up 110 lift irrigation schemes to create an additional ayacut of 1.62 lakh acres during 2005-06. The Government also sanctioned to lay dedicated power lines for 170 existing lift irrigation schemes to ensure free power supply for at least 12 hours.

In order to achieve these targets, the Government had decided to expand the scope of lift irrigation schemes taken up by the AP State Irrigation Development Corporation Ltd (APSIDC), the nodal agency for the purpose, from 5,000 acres to 10,000 acres.

Reviewing APSIDC's activities here on Sunday, the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, said the corporation got an allocation of Rs 238 crore for 2005-06 as against Rs 50 crore earlier, a Government release said.
