Clam cultivation in progress in the backwaters of suburban Kochi. Clams are mainly cultivated in the coastal belt of the Malabar region extending to Kozhikode, Kannur and Kasaragode districts. Water pollution has severely affected clam export to international markets but they are fast becoming a favourite in the domestic market.
