Chennai , Aug 11

AMARA Raja Batteries Ltd has launched a limited edition series of car batteries "to commemorate Narain Karthikeyan reaching the pinnacle of motor sport with his entry into Formula 1 racing."

The company will produce 5,000 of `Amaron PRO - NK Racing Edition' batteries, which carry a picture of Narain and his signature across the label.

Two features distinguish the limited edition batteries from the rest. First, these batteries have better technical features, (in terms of higher cranking ampere and reserve capacity) and secondly, they come with a 50-month warranty.

At a press conference today, Amara Raja officials declined to disclose how much the company had to pay Narain Karthikeyan for endorsing the Amaron brand. "Narain has been kind to us," is all what the company's Managing Director, Mr Jay Galla, would say.

It was pointed out that Amara Raja's engagement with Narain dated back six years, when the ace motor driver was a relatively unknown face.
