Groundnut oil gains on buying

GROUNDNUT oil and RBD palmolein prices moved up on the edible oils market on Friday on continued buying enquiries and reduced inflows.

Soya oil imported ruled steady on poor buying. Castor oil prices weakened further on continued offerings. Castorseed October contracts recovered partly on fresh but limited support.

Groundnut oil ready was up a rupee at Rs 497 for 10 kg following firm Gujarat reports. In imported oils, RBD palmolein was up Rs 2 at Rs 365 for 10 kg. Soya refined oil imported was steady at Rs 355 per 10 kg.

Castor oil commercial grade was down Rs 2 at Rs 353 for 10 kg. Castorseed October contracts opened and ended firm at Rs 1,615 per quintal on fresh support, up by Rs 6 over previous day.

Sugar rules weak: Sugar spot prices weakened on the wholesale market on Friday on increased offerings amid restricted buying, a trader said.

Small grade (S-30) was down Rs 14 at Rs 1,865-1,906 a quintal over previous day. Medium grade (M-30) was down Rs 10 at Rs 1,914-1,980 a quintal.
