THE co-founder and Member of the Board of Infosys Technologies Ltd, Mr K. Dinesh, today presented a cheque of Rs 40,000 to Mr Sumit Kumar, a 2005 alumnus of IIT Kharagpur, for winning Infosys' Wiredgurus challenge competition.

Infosys received more than 2,500 registrations, primarily from top technology institutes, on its portal www.wiredgurus.com for its technology research problem solving competition.

Wiredgurus, launched in October 2004, is an initiative from SETLabs (Software Engineering and Technology Labs), the R&D arm of Infosys.

Wiredgurus intends to provide a platform to encourage innovation in IT among students. Top institutes participated in the Wiredgurus technology challenge.

The Head of SETLabs, Mr Subu Goparaju, said, "Effectively integrating technology into the nervous system of an enterprise's business and making sense of the emerging technologies remains a challenge for most enterprises. We offer the young engineering students a flavour of the work done in an exciting way."
