`BPOs offer mainstream career opportunities'

Bangalore , Aug. 12

PROGEON, the business process outsourcing outfit of Infosys, has said that careers in BPOs were not casual job opportunities but mainstream options to youth with visible growth and development.

In a recently organised conclave of 49 college principals, senior executives of Progeon sought to correct the popular impression that BPOs were little more than call centres.

The conclave was part of Progeon's programme to reach out to the academia.

Graduating students who qualify through Progeon's entry requirements are trained to work in a range of transaction services, from finance and accounts to mortgage processing, from human resources services to equity analysis, for global companies.

"Students look to their teachers for guidance and we think it is important that we communicate the range of career options in the BPO industry today," said Mr Akshaya Bhargava, Managing Director, Progeon.

Members of the Progeon executive council detailed the progression of a recruit in the company and described the policies on compensation, benefits and workplace security.
