New Delhi , Aug 18 IT training firm NIIT Ltd today announced a technology tie-up with chipmaker Intel to train 50,000 software professionals in India over the next three years on the Intel architectural platform. The programme will utilise the resources of Intel Software College and scale out course offerings through the NIIT network. Joint programme will developed to enable software developers to maximise the performance of their applications running on Intel architectures and platforms. In the first year, the programmes will train 6,000 to 8,000 people ranging from top decision-makers to working professionals. "It will be scaled up to 50,000 over three years. Based on our early experience in India, we will remodel and roll out the programme in other parts of Asia-Pacific, where China is an important market for us," the Chairman on NIIT Ltd, Mr Rajendra Pawar, told a press conference here. In India, the programme will initially focus on multi-core processing with labs across 10 NIIT centres in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune. The President of Intel India, Mr Ketan Sampat, said, "Our collaboration with NIIT on this initiative will help Indian software developers and architects capitalise on today's technology trends and deliver new products to their customers." Intel had earlier taken a 10 per cent stake in NIIT Ltd. The instructor-led training programmes will also provide developers with access to tested methods for optimising software performance on Intel architectures, code samples, self-help and trouble-shooting tools. Intel and NIIT also have an agreement to grow the number of Indian schools benefiting from computer-assisted education to 80,000 by 2010.
