RoC served show-cause on HPL board members

Kolkata , Aug. 24

A little known fact is that, based on a complaint filed by IOC in July this year at the Department of Company Affairs, the Registrar of Companies show-caused all the board members, including the State Industry and Commerce Minister, Mr Nirupam Sen, for not encashing the cheque of Rs 150 crore issued by IOC in February this year.

"It was an illegal and criminal offence on our part," the State Government sources said. As TCG decided against attending any board meet on the issue of IOC's induction, the Chairman of HPL had finally issued a resolution, which was agreed to by all except the four TCG directors. The TCG official argued this is a civil matter and there is no criminal liability attached to it.
