Software HCL Info forays into retail space with BeePOS Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Aug. 25 HCL Infosystems, part of the $2.2-billion HCL group, has announced its entry into the retail segment with a range of POS (point of sales) machines that also offer payment solutions. The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of HCL Infosystems, Mr Ajai Chowdhry, said the company would reach out to 12 million retail establishments, particularly in the lower end of the value chain. This segment needs solutions, thanks to changes in the taxation structure, he said. "The BeePOS terminals have hardware and software, catering to billing processes, including VAT. The effort is to cover as many languages as possible," Mr Chowdhry said. At a press conference here, Mr Chowdhry said, "HCL Info has manufacturing capacity for 10 lakh personal computers." The Executive Vice-President, Marketing, HCL, Mr George Paul, said that according to industry estimates, the retail market was approximately $202.6 billion, of which 3 per cent was in the organised segment. HCL BeePOS offers customised billing solution, covering retail, transport, and utility, which can be integrated with radio frequency tags, barcodes and backend enterprise resource planning.
Sub-10K PCs
Mr Chowdhry said the company's latest sub-Rs 10,000 PC had received excellent response and it intended to market this packaged PC across class B and C towns, bundled with good finance options.
