Kochi , Sept. 3

SU-RAJ Diamonds and Jewellery Ltd has announced its plans to set up jewellery manufacturing units in Kochi and Kolkata.

Both the units are to come up at the special economic zones (SEZs) in the two locations and would cater to the jewellery segment of the company, a press release issued here has said.

Over and above the company's strong presence in the gems and jewellery industry in the country, the present move is expected to further strengthen its presence in the global markets. Su-Raj Diamonds and Jewellery made gems and jewellery exports to the tune of Rs 480 crore during 2004-05.

"We are focusing on the emerging international markets in a major way. Our investments in Kochi and Kolkata are aimed at supporting the increased demand for our jewellery products in the world market. Both the centres have a tradition of jewellery manufacturing with world-class artisans," Mr Jatin Mehta, Chairman and Managing Director of Su-Raj Diamonds, said in a statement issued here.
