GlaxoSmithKline introduces new Horlicks variant

Chennai , Sept. 6

GLAXOSMITHKLINE Consumer Healthcare (GSKCH) today launched Horlicks Lite and Horlicks Lite Bite for the southern and eastern regions. These products have been formulated keeping the dietary needs of health conscious adults.

Mr Anindya Das Gupta, General Manager, Nutritionals Innovation, GSKCH, said that this product is also suitable for people with diabetes. Horlicks Lite is a drink that contains zero added sugar, has zero cholesterol, and is high on fibre and low on fat.

The Horlicks Lite Bite is a biscuit, which has no added sucrose while containing fibre to help glucose control and satiety. It also has the benefits of antioxidants, vitamins and calcium, he said.

Horlicks Lite comes in two flavours- coffee and malt.

Mr Das Gupta said that the new variant has evolved to meet the changing needs of consumers, who have increasingly become health conscious. The product was developed in consultation with doctors and dieticians, he said.

The company has launched communication plans covering media, medical marketing, a toll-free number and will also be supporting a Web site.

Horlicks is a 100-year-old brand and has 53 per cent market share in the Rs 1,300-crore health drink market in India.

GSKCH has manufacturing plants at Nabha, Rajahmundry and Sonepat. The company also manufactures Boost, Viva and Maltova.
