PHILIPS Electronics India Ltd will ramp up the manpower strength at its software facility in Bangalore from around 1,500 at present to about 2,600 by 2007.

By that time, the company's revenue generation from software development is expected to go up to Rs 400 crore. In 2004, the company's software division accounted for around 9 per cent of Philips Electronics India Ltd's net income of Rs 2,305.8 crore.

Speaking to newspersons at the conclusion of the 75th annual general meeting of the company here on Tuesday, Mr K. Ramachandran, Vice-Chairman & Managing Director of Philips Electronics India Ltd, said an investment of $50 million was being made in a new software campus in Bangalore.

The facility was one among the six centres of Philips' Worldwide Innovation and Design Group and was engaged in research & development in embedded software solutions, architecture designing and information systems for advanced technological features for Philips' Worldwide Design Group.

Philips Worldwide's other software development centres are located in California, Eindhoven, Hungary, Singapore and Shanghai.
