Infotech bags big GIS deal from KPN

Our Bureau

Hyderabad , Sept. 14

INFOTECH Enterprises Ltd announced on Wednesday that it has been awarded a GIS (geographical information systems) contract by KPN, a leading player in the Dutch telecommunications market.

An offshore production team of around 300 data specialists based in India will perform conversion services remotely to digitise the existing plans of KPN's telecom network. Infotech had previously partnered with KPN.

Valued at several million euros and with a tight schedule of deployment in 18 months, it represents one of the largest single-vendor GIS contracts awarded by the global telecom industry to an offshore services company in recent years, the company claimed.

The Chairman and Managing Director of Infotech, Mr B.V.R. Mohan Reddy, in a statement said, "Infotech has forged a constructive relationship with KPN during the past four years, and we feel confident that the conclusion of this new contract will only strengthen our position as KPN's preferred supplier of GIS data maintenance services."

As a part of this deal, Infotech will provide a range of data management services for KPN's network.

The company shares closed at Rs 350.40 at the Bombay Stock Exchange on Wednesday.
