Elder Pharma to make Swiss co's arthritis drug

ELDER Pharmaceuticals will manufacture and market in India Artrodar, an arthritis drug, belonging to Switzerland's TRB Chemedica International SA.

This in-licensing pact marks Elder Pharma's foray into the estimated Rs 800-crore domestic pain segment, besides also scripting TRB Chemedica's entry into India. The drug has a global sales of $200 million, according to an industry representative.

Elder Pharma is an estimated Rs 300-crore company. According to Elder's top brass, the new drug is expected to generate about Rs 20 crore in its third year from launch.
